2009 WOLFF VINEYARD CHARDONNAY description

2009 WOLFF VINEYARD CHARDONNAY
MOUNT EDEN VINEYARDS

Barrel fermented and aged sur-lie in our mountain cave, the wine is entering its youthful prime. Classic aromas and flavors of melon, peach and honeysuckle with a long and opulent finish. Mouthwatering acidity reflects its cool coastal region. Complex and weighty on the palate, it is a premier example of one of the finest chardonnays grown in California’s Central Coast area. This vineyard produces intense, rich chardonnay grapes which, in Mount Eden’s hands, create memorable wine at an affordable price. It is barrel fermented and aged 8 months in small French (75 percent) and American (25 percent) oak barrels, half of which are new. This is textbook perfect rich, buttery chardonnay that is easy to drink and pairs with food much better than the average chardonnay. This 100% Chardonnay is produced from vines that are over 20 years old and yield 2 to 4 tons per acre. This wine is bottled unfined [Vegan] and unfiltered.
“The Mount Eden 2009 Chardonnay Wolff Vineyard is an attractive, entry-level white with lovely varietal fruit and an open, accessible personality. The wine was aged in neutral oak.” The Wine Advocate, 90 points

100% Mount Eden clone Pinot Noir; longest lineage of Pinot Noir in North America! “The Mount Eden 2009 Pinot Noir Estate opens with striking aromatics that lead to an expressive core of sweet red berries, crushed flowers, tobacco and spices. It is an impeccably balanced, refined wine loaded with class. In short, this is an American classic. The wine should be even better in another few years once the aromas flesh out. The Estate was not racked until it was prepared for bottling, which was done with no fining or filtration. Drink 2012-2019.”
